Patti Butcher

Lead Golf Channel Academy Coach & LPGA National Golf Progessional of the Year

Committed to “teaching the whole game to the whole person,” Patti has delivered results for golfers of every age and ambition for over thirty years.

She was honored to be recognized by her peers as 2010 LPGA National Golf Professional of the Year and two-time LPGA Midwest Section Teacher of the Year.  Patti believes the best decision in her career was accepting a job working for heralded instructor and professional, Craig Harmon at the famous Oak Hill Country Club. It was under Craig’s tutelage that Patti learned the techniques and importance of teaching all players based on their personal goals from club members to PGA Tour Professionals.

After spending nine years as just the sixth golf professional of historic Blythefield Country Club, Patti returns to her passion of coaching and teaching, re-launching her successful golf instruction company, Patti Butcher Golf Enterprises. While previously recognized by the Grand Rapids Business Journal as a finalist for top woman-owned business, PBGE is looking to achieve even greater heights having recently been selected to join the accomplished professional network of Golf Channel Academies.

Her years of instructional expertise have always been combined with a strong coaching philosophy, having started the nationally ranked women’s program at Grand Valley State University while serving as Director of Instruction for The Meadows Golf Club.

Always an active professional, Patti served as the Division II representative for the NCAA Golf Committee as well as hosting two National Championships while at GVSU. Previous students include an NCAA National Champion, eight high school state champions, many Division I, II, III individual titles, and AJGA winners; Patti also loves working with newer golfers, getting them engaged in the game which has taken her all over the world.

Professional highlights include working with the Golf Association of Chile on junior golf programming, travelling monthly to Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic serving as lead instructor of international golf schools, playing and teaching in Japan as a part of Mizuno professional pro-am series, as well as teaching in many corporate programs for high profile men and women executives all over the United States. Known for outstanding communication skills both on and off the lesson tee, Patti has numerous media credits including “Golf Shorts” a nationally aired-program on PBS, author of countless published instructional articles, as well as being a respected and sought after speaker and presenter.

She is a Class A member of both the PGA of America and LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division, as well as a member of the select golf instruction society, The Proponent Group.

A life long learner, Patti graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialty in Human Resources Management. With continuous improvement as a theme, PBGE owns the latest in instructional technology including: Trackman 4 – Dual Doppler Radar Launch Monitor, Smart 2 Move Force Plates – the latest in Balance/Ground Resistance Feedback, FocusBand – Industry leader in training for performance state monitoring and control, Blast – tempo and putting feedback and reporting tool, high speed video swing capture, Ikkos/Copy Me -the latest in virtual reality motion visualization, and, finally, she is a certified Carlson Learning Consultant with DiSC profile system.

Once holding the lowest scoring average of all collegiate players, she has won at the amateur, collegiate, and professional level. Patti continues to enjoy competition against golf professionals, having cashed a professional check for playing every year since turning professional as well as being the current owner of three course records for women: Oak Hill CC, Rochester, NY, Arcadia Bluffs, Arcadia, MI, and Rutgers University Golf Course, Piscataway, NJ.

Britni is an Associate Teaching Professional with Patti Butcher Golf Enterprises. A former Academic All-American at NCAA Division III Hope College, Britni helped the Flying Dutch women’s golf team qualify for the DIII National Championship for the first time in school history in 2015. The following season, she set the all-time single-round lowest-score mark in tournament play with a 71 at Nationals, where she finished 7th.

Her success at the collegiate level followed an outstanding junior career. She was a three-time All-State selection for Division II Girls Golf and was a member of the Mona Shores Girls Golf Team that won four consecutive state championships from 2009 through 2012. While playing competitive golf, Britni made frequent trips to visit Patti Butcher to work on the mechanics of her swing and improve her mental approach to the game. It was during these lessons that Britni developed an interest in teaching golf, which led her to become the lead instructor at Spring Lake Country Club in their junior golf program for four years.

Britni is a Certified Cardiogolf Instructor.  Created by Karen Palacios- Jansen, Cardiogolf is a golf fitness program designed to teach the mechanics of the golf swing without hitting a ball.

While at Spring Lake CC, Britni taught boys and girls of all ages during the club’s summer golf programs. She fell in love with teaching the game to kids, and continues to work with juniors, helping them improve while having fun in the process. Britni was also a past Board Member for The First Tee of Muskegon, and has taught at several junior golf clinics and volunteered her time in the front office in Grand Rapids, MI.

When she’s not golfing herself, she is spending time with her friends and family, which includes brother Brendan. He was an All-American at Wake Forest University and played on the 2009 U.S. Walker Cup Team along with Rickie Fowler. Her love for the game started while caddying for Brendan enroute to his victory at the Porter Cup, a major amateur championship.
